His mission was to prove that the original inhabitants of such faraway lands could have migrated from South America. He went on to carry out myriad other experiments in ancient travel from Morocco to South America, and Iraq to Djibouti seeking to better understand routes of cultural exchange.”“…Heyerdahl believed that ancient cultures’ understanding of the ocean remained a far “truer one than ours”. Photo by David Beal.“After the season three or four years will pass before the green sea turtle will return again to land to lay eggs. At that time she probably will come back to the Great Barrier Reef-one of the most important turtle-nesting areas of the world. Since she may live for decades, she will make this trip many times. Heated by the sun, the beach sand keeps the turtle eggs warm for two to three months. When the eggs hatch, the baby turtles scramble out of their sandy nest as a team. From “The great Barrier Reef: a treasure in the sea” by Alice Thompson Gilbreath, 1986.https://www.instagram.com/p/CpGHaxatwpS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI= equatorjournal
